The Advent Calendar (2021)

Everyone's favorite yuletide countdown tradition gets the big screen treatment with the new holiday classic The Advent Calendar (2021)! Actually, let's pump the brakes on all that holiday optimism, this is a rare film being a Christmas horror thriller, and many of those just don't exist. This French flick centers around a young woman named Eva (Eugénie Derouand) a former dancer now confined to a wheelchair, who receives the titular antique as a gift from her friend Sophie (Honorine Magnier), who acquired it on a trip to Munich. The calendar comes complete with a piece of candy in each compartment for each day of advent, but it's not simply a candy dispensing calendar, but rather a secret wish granting device with the classic "Monkey's Paw" warning of be careful what you wish for attached to its many surprises. Suddenly long ill relatives become suddenly healed and men who wronged Eva long ago turn up dead, which seems great at first, but once those debts start coming around to be collected, things take a turn for the decidedly darker! If what you're wishing for is some nudity, it's got a monkey paw type "be careful what you wish for" deal attached to it as well. While star Eugénie Derouand doesn't doff her duds, she does show off some perky pokies in a black and a white sports bra! Thankfully co-star Honorine Magnier does bare her boobs and bush, however, it's under the unsexiest of circumstances imaginable so, be glad she's nude, just keep wishing until the context turns out slightly better!
