The Invite (2026)

Adapted by Will McCormack with his Celeste & Jesse Forever co-scribe Rashida Jones, this take on the 2020 Spanish film The People Upstairs (Sentimental) follows Joe (Seth Rogen) and Angela (Olivia Wilde, who also directed), a San Francisco couple whose marriage is crumbling. A music teacher and a stay-at-home mom, respectively, Joe and Angela are both unhappy and exhausted after being kept up by the sex noises coming from their upstairs neighbors. To make it more awkward, Angela’s invited those same neighbors, Piña (Penélope Cruz) and Hawk (Edward Norton), over for dinner, a choice which ultimately puts Joe and Angela’s relationship under a microscope as the night spirals out of control. Surprising no one, it turns out the upstairs neighbors like to have special guests in their bedroom and are down for a little partner swapping. Though she initially shares a sapphic smooch with Penelope, it’s Norton that Olivia strips down to her bra and panties for, while Penelope and her cleavage dance around with Seth. We invite both ladies to return to their much nuder roots after leaving us high and dry here!
