The Fishbowl (2023)

Noelia (Isel Rodriguez) is a filmmaker in San Juan, and though she’s only in her early 30s, she has a host of health issues. She tries not to let that stop her from having fun and partying with friends, though her boyfriend Jorge (Maximiliano Rivas) doesn’t make it easy with his smothering concern and lectures about her behavior. Then Noelia learns that her cancer has returned, prompting her to escape on a ferry and stay with her widowed mother Flora (Magali Carrasquillo) on the island of Vieques. There she also has an affair with an old beau (Modesto Lacén), and it’s all set against the backdrop of an imminent Hurricane Irma. The film starts with an overhead shot of Isel fully naked in the tube with her colostomy bag, then we get another bookended shot of her perfect pair as she’s helped into another tub outside as things start to get stormy. You’’re sure to be bowled over by Isel’s boobs and bush in this thoughtful indie drama!
