The Convert (2024)

Lee Tamahori, director of the excellent Once Were Warriors (1994), is back in top form with The Convert (2024)! Guy Pearce stars as Thomas Munro, a preacher who arrives on a remote island in the Tasman Sea, home to a small group of British colonists who have hired him to be their preacher. The island is also home to several Maori tribes, and the colonists are hopeful that he can broker peace between them and the Maori—and maybe secure a few converts along the way! However, a war between two of the tribes is going to make that easier said than done, especially when Munro convinces one tribe to spare the life of Rangimai (Tioreore Ngatai-Melbourne), the daughter of the rival tribe's leader. Thankfully this is no down under Pocahontas riff as things get rough and tumble pretty quick. The flick sexiest scene comes after Pearce has bedded his translator, played by Jacqueline McKenzie, and while he examines the many scars on her back, we're treated to a look at her right breast!
