Sometimes a movie comes along and it not only defines a career, it pretty much defines everything involved with it, like a car, a mustache, an entire year, and a sex symbol.  The movie is Smokey and the Bandit, the year was 1977, the man was none other than Burt Reynolds, and the car was a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am.  The mustache could have been any of our dad's to be honest, WE DON'T KNOW because they all rocked that look after Burt came onto the scene.  So this gem of a time capsule of the late 70s follows The Bandit (Burt Reynolds), who gets hired by a couple of Georgia big wigs to figure out a way to drive from the Peach State to Texarkana, Texas and back within 28 hours.  The primary goal is to run interference for a long-haul truck hauling as much Coors brand beer as they can carry, which might sound ridiculous now, but back in '77... Well, hauling Coors beer east of the Mississippi was considered bootlegging! So Burt and country music legend Jerry Reed take the job for a cool $80,000 for a new big rig.  Along they way, they manage to ruffle the feathers of just about every law enforcement office in the South, including the extra angry Bufford T. Justice (Jackie Gleason).  Also along the way, The Bandit picks up none other than Academy Award winner Sally Field, starts to call her Frog as a new CB handle, and she's along for the ride of a lifetime, probably even a mustache ride if The Bandit has anything to say about it!  Although there is zero nudity in this one, you definitely get prime time Sally Field, in her post The Flying Nun and pre-Oscar award winner hey day, showing pokies and her bumper in some tight jeans through this classic!  Buckle up, boys and start heading Eastbound and Down!  We got a Smokey the Bear in a brown paper bag handing out safe driving awards all over this big slab, good buddy!
