Sleep (2020)

We're not sure if horror movies from Germany are scarier because Germans are harder to scare or if it's because Germany's dark past has allowed them to mine some really horrifying subject matter out of the genre. Either way, the German flick Sleep (2020) definitely goes places most American horror movies wouldn't dare. Mona (Gro Swantje Kohlhof) is a woman with enough problems of her own, but she's currently consumed with concern for her mother Marlene (Sandra Hüller, of Toni Erdmann fame) who has disappeared after informing her daughter that her nightmares are real. Mona follows a trail of clues that lead her to a remote village deep in the woods where her mother reportedly ended up, discovering that her family has ties to this village dating back centuries. The more Mona begins to dig into her family's past, the more convinced she becomes that an ancient evil curse has been placed on her family, which causes their nightmares to come to life. Now, Mona must discover if there's a way to break this curse or if she is doomed, like all the women in her family before her, to enter a state in which her deepest and darkest fears manifest themselves in the real world. In a film filled with haunting imagery, we're happy to report that there is at least one supremely sexy scene involving three completely nude women! 46 minutes in, Gro Swantje Kohlhof wakes up nude in a black void, showing off her boobs and bush, while both Agata Buzek and Martina Schöne-Radunski also appear nude in the same void! Sleep will give you a waking wet dream!
