Skiff (2025)

This Belgium-Netherlands-Sweden collab is a coming-of-age tale about a young middle-class teen in Willebroek, Antwerp, named Malou (Femke Vanhove). Though her father is gone and her mother, Annick (Natali Broods), is distant, Malou is close to her two brothers, Alex (Mil Sinaeve) and Max (Wout Vleugels). Her rowing teammates (hence the title), however, bully her, to the point where she struggles with personal identity and body issues as she heads into he sixteenth year. Then she meets Nouria (Lina Miftah), a Muslim girl from Brussels whom Max is dating. Malou develops feelings for Nouria, and it seems Nouria may share them, threatening Malou’s relationship with Max. Femke delivers a respectable nudecomer debut by going topless in two separate scenes, thoroughly ensuring that you’ll get stiff while watching Skiff!
