The mega-billing lawyer who yearns to spin graceful and carefree in Shall We Dance? (2004) must twinkle-toe along a fine line. On the one hand, if he continues to devote every waking resource to the furtherance of his estimable career, he risks becoming a shadow of a cipher to his drifting family. On the other hand, if he goes through with his mid-life ambition of ascending to the ranks of ballroom-dancing champions after having been lured into that discipline while in pursuit of a stunningly attractive young instructress, he faces the danger of skipping off into the sunset cheek-to-jowl with a simmering, stacked Latin lady less than half his age. Of such dilemmas spring the most delicious conflict resolutions.
