Japanese cult auteur Teruo Ishii teams with Audition (1999) star Tadanobu Asano for a surreal tale of jealousy and regret. Based on a manga by Yoshiharu Tsuge, the cult epic tells of a struggling cartoonist whose problems are compounded when his girlfriend accepts a job in an all-male dormitory. While Kuniko (Miki Fujitani) screws to her heart’s content, Tsube (Asano) tries to escape his troubles by overdosing on pills, an act that becomes a gateway to a series of increasingly bizarre, sex-fueled experiences. Tsugumi, Mutsumi Fujita, and Kaoru Mizuki are just a few of the women lurking in the shadows who try to heal the downtrodden Asano with their libidinous elixirs.
