Piranha (1995)

The Showtime cable network began the “Roger Corman Presents” series as a chance to remake some low-budget cinema. This also means the remaking of classic big-booby skinema, as shown in Piranha (1995), a reliable retelling of the 1978 classic. Genetically enhanced piranha have once again been allowed to frolic in a local lake, and there are plenty of endangered campers who need to be saved by William Katt and Alexandra Paul. Soleil Moon Frye fills out a T-shirt as a young counselor, and Lorissa McComas does a fine job of recreating the original film’s skinny-dipping sequence. Kelly Burns will also get your teeth chattering as she improves on the original with a bikini-baring bonus.
