Patria (2020)

In this Spanish political and historical story spanning multiple decades, we follow two familiars whose lives intersect with misery.  Patria's central focus is on the influence and crimes of the ETA terrorist group, better known by some as Euskadi Ta Askatasuna or more simple put, The Basque Homeland and Liberty.  Their primary goal was as a separatist movement in Spain and France to try and get the Basque region between the two countries to become its own independent nation.  In the process, between 1969 and about 2010, they managed to kill close to 1000 people between a handful of countries to get their word out.  They committed assassinations, bombings, shootings, paid bounties on cops in the area who were trying to combat them, you know, classic terrorist type dealings.  When the two female leads of this story are put at opposite ends of the violence, the once strong friendship deteriorates into estrangement.  When one of their husbands is killed in a terrorist attack by the ETA, they both must examine what led to this over the course of their years of friendship, including the relationships they have with their children, friends, and with each other as the violence continues to grow and sides are chosen between the two families.  It's a phenomenal period piece jumping between multiple eras of the ETA's violence in the region and it wouldn't be a Spanish series without a bunch of beautiful sun-kissed skin!  We get a Nude-Comer debut from the gorgeous Susana Abaitua, as she decides to screw her boyfriend forcefully to help cope with her emotions!  Hopefully as the series develops we get more gorgeous gals in the buff!
