Mark of the Devil (1970)

Mark our words, you’ll love Mark of the Devil (1970). Also known as Hexen bis aufs Blut gequält and Witches Tortured till They Bleed, the skinternational flick was marketed in the U.S. with the line, “Rated V for Violence.” And we thought it was for Vixens! Under the direction of Michael Armstrong, the horror film follows the exploits of an albino (Reggie Nalder), an executioner (Herbert Fux), a nobleman (Adrian Hoven) and his wife (Ingeborg Schöner), Baron Daumer (Michael Maien), and Count Christian von Meruh (Udo Kier). The latter man is an apprentice witch hunter. But after he witnesses his mentor Lord Cumberland (Herbert Lom) abusing his position (as well as a busty babe accused of practicing witchcraft), Christian realizes the witch hunt is just a coverup for the church to confiscate property and violate women. Indeed, the movie includes a lot of scenes featuring graphic torture — from nun assaults to a beauty’s tongue getting pulled out. On the bright side, we are also treated to some skingoria from Gaby Fuchs. As Jeni von Bergenstein, the aptly-named Ms. Fuchs exposes her nude (albeit bloody) boobs when she gets her head chopped off. Even though we prefer to see naked ladies under a less stressful lens, we must admit Gaby is drop dead gorgeous! Speaking of damsels in distress (and out of dress), check out the fab flesh on Dorothea Carrera. The hot brunette steams up the screen when she bares her breasts and bum. No wonder she’s accused of bewitching men!
