George Segal runs amok in Loving (1970) as a hard-drinking commercial artist who can’t resist insulting his clients and jumping into bed with random gals. In short, he’s standing in for John Wayne as our great American hero. This is one of those depressing ’70s films, though, so we have to endure Segal’s downward spiral as he pisses off wife Eva Marie Saint and chases after nubile neighbor’s wife Nancie Phillips. Personally, we’re ready to forgive George all his sins after checking out the nude scenes from newcomer Nancie and screen legend Saint. The supporting cast is actually packed full of swinging ’70s sirens, although Janis Young stays clothed as Segal’s official mistress.
