Biography

Who’s the Phairest of them all? That title would have to belong to Liz Phair, a pixie-sized, golden-maned sex siren with a guitar who dominated the indie-rock world throughout the 1990s and beyond. Lusty Liz busted onto the music scene in 1993 with her landmark album Exile in Guyville, and with jaw-droppingly explicit lyrics like “I want to be your blow-job queen,” the disc became a staple of college radio, and lusty Liz became a silky-voiced sex object to millions. In fact, Guyville was placed on Rolling Stone magazine’s “500 Greatest Albums of All Time.” Her hit song “Supernova” from her album Whip-Smart hit number six and spent 19 weeks on Billboard’s music charts in 1994, and her 2003 song “Why Can’t I,” the lead single from her self-titled album Liz Phair, was featured in the movies 13 Going on 30, and Win a Date with Tad Hamilton, and in the series The O.C. and Everwood; it peaked at number 7 on the Billboard charts and spent 29 weeks hanging out. The only thing rivaling Liz’s musical chops is her equally impressive exterior, and in addition to mountains of suggestive photo shoots, she graced the screen as Brynn in the film Cherish (2002), and showed off her fit frame in tiny, booty-hugging Lycra shorts and a snug tank top playing a yoga instructor inSeeing Other People (2004). And, of course, Mr. Skin can never forget the cover of that Liz Phair album where she appears to be naked except for a silky scarf and a battered guitar. Lots of skin!
