Review

Polish filmmaker Robert Glinski pokes fun at the state of his national film industry in the metafilmic spoof Labedzi spiew (1988). Distributed internationally as Swan Song, the film stars Jan Peszek as a toiling screenwriter who spends his days with his head in the clouds. Confident that he’s got the creative smarts to pen a blockbuster, Stefan (Peszek) can’t seem to convince the world to back off and let him realize his vision. Narcissism aside, you’ve got to hand it to the writer for finding the perfect lead actress for his film. Maria Probosz boasts the kind of body that can turn a B-movie into the next coming of Citizen Kane (1941).
