King Kong (1976)

A remake that felt the need to make some pretty unnecessary changes to the source material, Jessica Lange made her first film appearance as the blonde beauty who killed the beast in 1976's King Kong. In this one it's the promise of untapped oil reserves that brings businessman Fred Wilson (Charles Grodin) and photographer/paleontologist Jack Prescott (Jeff Bridges) to Skull Island, but not before picking up a gorgeous blonde floating around in a lifeboat after the yacht she was sailing on sunk, named Dwan. The oil ends up being no good, but when Dwan's kidnapped by Kong, the oil loving entrepreneur sees a whole new business opportunity. After capturing the beast, Kong is taken to NYC and escapes, but in this one he climbs The World Trade Center instead of The Empire State Building. From there, things play out basically the same with the big gorilla getting shot down in the big apple. Lauded for its practical effects, which included giant animatronic hands, all sorts of masks, and even putting makeup master Rick Baker in a custom gorilla suit, critics lampooned this one including absolutely assaulting Lange's performance and John Guillermin's directing. But if we could direct your attention to Miss Lange, we're sure you'll disagree. One of cinema's first victims of thinking with your dong, King Kong couldn't resist the blondes, and neither can we. Jessica Lange first tickled our wang when she wears a thong after getting muddy with Kong. He dunks her in the water, supposedly to get the mud off, but really that big monkey wanted to get off to Jessica in a wet tee shirt. Can't blame him! But what really had us going apeshit was when Kong pulls her top down and exposes Jessica's jugs. She resists, but doesn't outright object to the funky monkey taking a peek at those perky poppers. That's some king shit, Kong!
