At just 25 years old, future Indie darling Noah Baumbach hit the ground running with his debut about life immediately after college for a gang of Gen Xers, Kicking and Screaming (1995). Josh Hamilton leads an ensemble cast as Grover, an aspiring writer who’s too depressed about his girlfriend leaving the country to get much work done. With Jane (Olivia d’Abo) having the time of her life in Prague, Grover eases into a tedious rut that’s only deepened by days spent with his unemployed buddies Max (Chris Eigman) and Otis (Carlos Jacott). Max doesn't need a job because he's rich, and is lucky enough to spend most of his free time railing his girlfriend Miami (Parker Posey). Otis is going to end up going to graduate school once he's done working at the video store, where he likes to flirt with the horny college freshman, Amy (Perrey Reeves), in between firing off random movie trivia while chatting with customers. All of our fellas know they've got to become adults sooner or later, but since it's so hard to give up a life of slacking, chilling, and having all sorts of casual Gen-X sex, they're going to go there kicking and screaming! Well, except for Grover, who has to decide pretty quickly if Jane's a woman worth moving to Prague for. Lauded for its clever dialogue, Baumbach’s got a sharp eye for the highs and lows of life as a jaded twenty-something, But he’s also a pretty keen observer of the fairer sex. Kaela Dobkin and Perrey Reeves both peel off layers in alluringly photographed scenes of coital embrace. Kaela Dobkin shows her skin when she's sitting on a bed topless, even if the shot is from far away and some dude's bare ass gets in the way. On the other hand, Perry Reeves shows her rack in a very clear shot where she takes off her top and bra, but keeps her skirt on as the lucky video store clerk prepares to get freaky with the fresh faced freshman.
