Review

With Kameleon (2001), director Janusz Kijowski attempts to inaugurate a Polish action franchise on par with Die Hard (1988) and Lethal Weapon (1987). Taking a page out of the big-budget-Hollywood-blockbuster playbook, Kijowski constructs a potent cocktail of gunfights, bomb detonations, backstabbing spies, and busty dames. Because the latter ingredient is so important, Kijowski spared no expense in casting national treasure Magdalena Wójcik in the role of femme fatale. The Eastern European wonder never serves up a true skin shot, but she’s tantalizing nevertheless in her skimpy, skintight clothing.
