Darkly erotic Isabelle De Funès first came to the attention of the hairy-palmed set with Raphael, or The Debauched One (1971). Nice title. But it was with Baba Yaga (1973) that she raised more than eyebrows. The movie, also known as Black Magic, Kiss Me Kill Me, and The Devil Witch and based on the erotic comics of Cepax, tells the story of a hip fashion photographer played by Isabelle and her increasingly kinky relationship with Carroll Baker, as the witch. Both get fully nude and are joined in skin by Angela Covello and Ely Galleani. Isabelle only appeared in a couple other features before giving up her carnal career, but what she’s left us is the stuff of wet dreams.
