Set in 1999, the comedic road flick Fanboys (2008) centers on a group of grownup Star Wars fanatics who decide to drive across the country to George Lucas’s Skywalker Ranch and steal a copy of the as-yet-unreleased The Phantom Menace so they can watch it before their friend Linus (Chris Marquette) dies of cancer.
