Twenty three years after the first attempt to bring the legendary role playing game to the big screen, Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023) took the go big or go home approach to the material and scored a blockbuster success. The film follows bard Edgin Darvis (Chris Pine) and barbarian Holga Kilgore (Michelle Rodriguez), best friends and partners who get mixed up in a byzantine adventure plot forging tenuous partnerships with sorcerer Simon Aumar (Justice Smith), paladin Xenk Yendar (Rege-Jean Page), and druid Doric (Sophia Lillis) to rescue Edgin's teenage daughter Kira (Chloe Coleman).
Fans of the game are sure to find a lot here to love, from the various fetch quests to the fantastical action and humor, but sadly the film falls short when it comes to skin. Michelle Rodriguez injects some sexiness into the proceedings by giving great cleavage, but this role playing game is no Game of Thrones!
