Die Unschuld der Krähen (1998)

Based on a hardboiled noir by Cornell Woolrich, the made-for-television German feature Die Unschuld der Krähen (1998) tells of a man whose hard work has a funny way of not paying off. Georg Finke (Joachim Król) labors tirelessly to save his company from bankruptcy, only to discover that management doesn’t need him once they’re back in the red. Not knowing how to provide for his beloved wife (Nina Petri), Finke weighs whether or not to take a turn from the straight-and-narrow. What the poor schlub should realize is that while money can’t buy happiness, sex certainly helps. Just ask Petri, who treats her man to some of the good stuff with a bout of bedtime hide-and-seek.
