Death Wish V (1994)

Death Wish V: The Faces of Death (1994) follows the box office hit Death Wish (1974) and its similarly successful sequels Death Wish II (1982), Death Wish 3 (1985) and Death Wish 4: The Crackdown (1987). Obviously Hollywood producers knew they had a cash cow in vigilante hero Paul Kersey, which Brian Garfield created for his novel “Death Wish” (1972). They even remade the original in 2018 with Bruce Willis in the lead. Still, Charles Bronson is synonymous with the role. Although he’s older here, he can still kick ass with the best of them. In this installment, Kersey lands in the witness protection program. He’s hiding out as a professor of architecture in New York City which is where the saga began all of those years ago. Now, Paul is dating fashion designer Olivia Regent (Lesley-Anne Down) who just so happens to be the ex-wife of an Irish mob boss (Michael Parks). No doubt, you can see the plot coming together a mile away, but you’re not here for subtlety. Yes, Paul’s babe gets whacked, and his wish for death returns to the streets. Once the thriller jumps into high gear, the violence is over the top — even by the standards of this series. However, some of the supporting characters get to enjoy a happy ending. In fact, check out Freddie “Flakes” Garrity (Robert Joy) and his girlfriend Dawn (Sharolyn Sparrow) in the bath. The blonde babe needs no bubbles to cover her bare boobs. Talk about a dead-sexy wish!
