French film legend Alain Delon plays a demanding dance instructor in the affective whodunit Dancing Machine (1990). No longer able to dance himself, Alan Wolf (Delon) lives vicariously through the slim young female students he instructs at his dancing school. But when a number of the young women succumb to freakish, unexplainable fates, the cops are called in to probe whether Wolf or his right-hand man (Patrick Dupond) are involved in more than harmless pedagogy. You’ve got to credit Wolf with one thing, however--his “Dancing Machine” only admits the biggest knockouts on the dance floor. Scope Consuelo De Haviland, Tonya Kinzinger, and Marina Saura sans leotard if you don’t believe it.
