A title like Cool Breeze (1972) may make readers of Tom Wolfe’s classic reportage on LSD-damaged hippies, The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, think it a biopic on one of Ken Kesey’s Merry Pranksters of the same name. How wrong. This blaxploitation remake of The Asphalt Jungle (1950) turns on the plot of a big heist, but the big boobs are more distracting than even the sultry soul of Solomon Burke’s soundtrack. First and foremost, there’s Pam Grier as Mona, and moan-ah you will when she unleashes those chocolate milk sacks. Margaret Avery steams up a bubble bath with her naked bubbles, and Paula Kelly, of The Streets of San Francisco and Night Court fame, makes her one and only T&Arousing skin scene onscreen. That’s a hot breeze!
