The New York version of the 1970s punk rock scene is the backdrop for the sweat-soaked drama CBGB (2013). Alan Rickman stars as Hilly Kristal, the financially unstable entrepreneur that opened the legendary, now defunct, titular club in 1973. The club owner’s goal was to bring a little country twang to the Lower East Side of New York, hence the meaning behind the venue’s initials: “Country Bluegrass Blues”. With the help of New York’s wannabe punk rockers, specifically bands like Television, Ramones and Patti Smith Group, the hole-in-the-wall club became the mythical place most bands dreamed of performing at.

The soundtrack may be kicking, but the nudity is non-existent. You’ll have to settle for a shot of Stana Katic’s nips screaming to burst out of her see-through wife beater. Stana will have you shooting your sex pistol!
