Carmen Jones (1954) is a classic MGM musical directed by Otto Preminger (Anatomy of a Murder) which is a contemporary update of the opera Carmen by Georges Bizet. The story of a soldier whose downfall is brought about by his relationship with a seductive gypsy named Carmen is updated to a Korean War-era all-black Army camp. Brash soldier Joe (Harry Belafonte) is engaged to the wholesome Cindy Lou (Olga James), but his world is turned upside down when he meets parachute maker Carmen Jones (Dorothy Dandridge). Being a big studio 50s musical, don't expect any skin, but we do get some sexy shots of Dorothy Dandridge in a period appropriate bra and high-waisted panties combo! She does show some sensational cleavage when she bends down to pull up her dress, but sadly the bra stays on! Even still, we'd be shocked if Carmen Jones didn't at least send a jolt to your bone!
