A noir how-to for dabblers in self-damnation, Bright Angel takes place in the hard-bitten locales of Great Falls, Montana, and Casper, Wyoming, tough towns where the steady decline in a compromised couple’s chances for living happily ever after is every bit as natural a progression as the spread of rust from bullet holes in an abandoned pick-up truck. Once a bought-off trial witness turns up dead in the trunk of a car, the outlook for eternity is particularly more tarnished than rosy.
