Cop Mario Van Peebles uses his religious training in Blowback (2000) to catch psycho killer James Remar, and the creep is sent to the chair. At least, that’s what Mario thinks. Instead, Remar’s been recruited by a secret government group that planned to train him as an assassin. The nutcase has other ideas, though, and he’s soon going after everybody who got him convicted--much to the bafflement of the cop who thinks that Remar’s dead. It’s a complicated plot saved by the simple pleasure of Gladys Jimenez as Mario’s beautiful bride.
