Alvin Purple (1973)

Alvin (Graeme Blundell) is an average looking guy who women find inexplicably irresistible, to an annoying degree, in the Australian sex comedy Alvin Purple (1973). For whatever reason, ever since he was a teenager Alvin has been catnip for the ladies. Classmates, neighbors, therapists, teachers, single and married women all pursue him with a predatory desire. There's virtually no situation he can put himself in where a woman won't be begging Alvin to get all up in her! He's a waterbed mattress salesman, so virtually every sale leads to Alvin and a woman testing what the mattress is good for other than resting. The only woman immune to his charms is his friend, Tina (Elli Maclure), who has joined a convent. After going on trial for running a brothel, since the law figures the only way a guy like him could get that much play was if he was involved in sex work, Alvin swears off sex forever. He gets a job gardening at the convent to be near her, but proves to be quite a temptation for the other nuns. None can resist him, which leads into the sequel Alvin Rides Again (1974). This one was a huge hit in Australia, in large part because it took advantage of changes in Australia's censorship laws, to show more nudity than was normally allowed. Jacki Weaver and Lynette Curran are both buxom blondes who bare badoinkees and beav as neighbors who ask to borrow a cup of sugar while Alvin's at home trying to hide from all the horny women. Of course, the sugar thing's an excuse for what they're really after. Knock, knock, we're here for your cock! Abigail made her film debut as a girl on the train, who's shirt was see-through.
