Addio al Nubilato (2021), or Bachelorette Party, is an Italian comedy directed by Francesco Apolloni and based on his stage play of the same name. Linda (Laura Chiatti), Eleonora (Antonia Liskova), Vanessa (Chiara Francini), and Akiko (Jun Ichikawa) have all been friends since high school and have reunited for the first time in over a decade to be bridesmaids for another friend. Upon reuniting, the four women discover that the absent bride has arranged a scavenger hunt for the four of them to participate in on the eve of the wedding, which leads to a night of drunken revelry right out of playbook of The Hangover films. The entire event has been orchestrated by their friend to make her friends confront the very things they've spent their lives running from, be it violence perpetrated against them in the past, racism, or general thoughts on women's rights, bringing an underlying seriousness to an otherwise fun and frothy flick about a bachelorette party gone awry. Thankfully, the catharsis of confronting all of their demons allows them to truly cut loose and enjoy themselves in a way they haven't since they were back in high school, feeling once again like the world is their oyster! The highlight of the film is undoubtedly a flashback to a trip to a nude beach where Jun Ichikawa's four other friends—played by Antonia FotarasBeatrice Bartoni, Caterina Signorini, and Lucrezia Rossini—strip nude and have a good time in the sand while Jun sits fully clothed on the beach and stews! It's a real shame those four ladies couldn't have tagged along for the rest of the film!
