Dog Years (2021)

Anni da Cane, or Dog Years (2021), is the first Amazon Prime Original film to come to us from Italy. The film centers around a cynical but romantic teenager named Stella (Aurora Giovinazzo), who is injured in a car accident involving a dog, and upon her recovery, has determined that she does not have much longer to live because her life is actually going by in dog years. So rather than being 16, she's actually over 100. Convinced that she doesn't have much time left to live, she enlists her friends Nina (Isabella Mottinelli) and Giulio (Luca Maria Vannuccini) to help her create a bucket list of things she wants to accomplish before she dies—which she insists is going to be quite soon. Following a chance meeting with the equally introverted Matteo (Federico Cesari), however, Stella begins to reshuffle her priorities and pursue a romantic relationship with Matteo. To spare his feelings, however, she doesn't want to tell him that her death is impending, which is bound to create more problems than it solves, leading to a late second act misunderstanding that will propel all of the characters into a third act where they must learn to accept the hand that's been dealt them! 19 year old Aurora Giovinazzo does an excellent job in the lead role and very nearly bares her breasts during a sex scene late in the film. It's a shame she doesn't go nude in the flick, but hopefully we won't have to wait an entire Dog Year for her nude debut!
