After retiring from decades of faithful service as an insurance salesman in About Schmidt (2002), Warren Schmidt (Jack Nicholson) finds himself with too much time on his hands. Freed from his routine life of 9 to 5, he spends endless days with his wife, whom he realizes suddenly repulses him. When wifey-poo suddenly passes on, Schmidt rewrites history, revising his revulsion to true love of his dearly departed. Alone and lonely, he reaches out to reconnect with the daughter he mostly ignored for the past thirty years, only to find her marrying a moron with the world’s biggest mullet. Struggling to feign fondness for his freak show of a new family, Warren faces the awful truth about his life: While playing it safe he has been the biggest boob of all and knows little about what is breast for anybody, including himself.
