When the middle-aged owner of a sports center comes to blows with a man half his age, their conflict is resolved in a most unusual manner in the German psychodrama Zwischen den Feuern (1997). Knowing that if he presses charges against Thomas (Steffen Groth) the pugnacious youngster will go to jail, Richard (Walter Kreye) opts for the ancient samurai treatment and enlists the young man as a bodyguard. Though this seems like a benevolent act, it’s a decision that turns out to have perilous consequences. Richard’s relationship with his wife (Constanze Engelbrecht) is strained, and it isn’t long before Thomas finds a way to exploit that fact by bedding the aging hottie. A regular Mrs. Robinson, Engelbrecht looks pretty irresistible for her advancing years, and it doesn’t take much convincing to get her in the sack.
