It is often said that Australia does not produce good sitcoms, and this forgotten program certainly did nothing to bolster the counter-argument. Willing and Abel was about two handymen who just happened to be named Willing and Abel--(Church Lady voice: “Isn’t thatspecial!”) The two would do anything, anytime to make a buck, but we’re guessing they did a studio executive or two to get this show off the ground. Stars Grant Dodwell and Shane Withington had both been on the long-running Aussie soap A Country Practice and hoped to parlay their popularity from one show into a successful run with the next. Six episodes later they were looking for work calling bingo numbers and making supermarket appearances. Co-star Rebecca Rigg went on to get naked in Fortress before landing her most recent gig onFarscape, which doesn’t suck at all.
