An Austrian police investigator holds an inquest on the evening of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s death in the riveting Czech-German historical drama Vergesst Mozart (1985). Armin Mueller-Stahl stars as Count Pergen, the detective determined to launch an investigation even before the famed composer’s body has had time to cool. Pergen rounds up a cast of suspects and begins interrogating them for clues into the psyche of the talented but troubled pianist. As things progress, it becomes apparent that the “murder” in question is both less sinister and more complex than Pergen had imagined. Though it may sound stodgy, director Miloslav Luther enlists some top-tier actresses to ensure that his crime drama is anything but. Katja Flint and Catarina Raacke write a symphony of their own with their supple curves and unforgettable features.
