Set in the summer of 1969, Uranya (2006) is a coming of age film out of Greece that tells the story of a teenage boy on a glorious quest to see boobs. Ahileas (Aris Tsapis) wants to see skin legend Brigit Bardo naked so bad at his local cinema that he breaks his leg in the process (well worth it!) As his leg heals, he becomes obsessed with purchasing a television for the sake of seeing the first space mission to land on the lunar surface. However, his sex-obsessed buddies would rather see the moon attached to a beautiful woman rather than use the money they saved up for a television set.
This film is beautifully shot and really captures the nostalgia of the era. Once particular scene finds our story’s protagonist and his buddies ah, achem, working things out with a photo of a nude pin-up model (Despina Mirou) showing her beautiful breasts while sitting on a beach working on her suntan. She literally comes to life in the photo while the boys imagine they are right there with her. One of the finest things to come out of Greece since the gyro, Mirou’s body is damn near perfect as she removes her bikini top. She literally has these guys in the palm of her hands…we find ourselves using our hands throughout this scene. This is certainly a film you do not want to miss.
