The System Within (2006)

The System Within (2006) is the story of Tariq Alexander, a hotshot male model who hardscrabbled his way out of the ghetto and scored himself the works: fame, fortune, and a fine, fine filly (Toneda Laiwan). But things don't stay A-OK for long in Tariq's chic world—the corrupt and the greedy start weaseling their way in, and soon the people he thinks he can trust have turned against him. Tariq ends up getting screwed by the system, and his purdy brow is hoosegow-bound. Who will help this poor prettyboy? Who will make Tariq's life less bleak? No one, that's who: not even his pastor brother (Taimak) can loosen the headlock the long arm of the law's got him in. Tariq has to take justice into his own hands if he ever wants to get them back on Toneda's mams. Making his screen debut (Toneda's meats are newcomers too) is rap star Chingy, alongside Tiffany Wither from BET and model/actress Kim Porter.
