Any movie with the word "Tears" in the title or any film making any kind of allusion to crying—I'm looking at you Jerry Lewis holocaust clown movie—is almost guaranteed to leave its audience in tears as well! The Salt of Tears (2020) is the latest film to tug at our tear ducts while simultaneously leaving us wanting to do a completely different kind of tugging! The French and Swiss co-production centers on Luc (Logann Antuofermo), a young man from a small provincial town who moves to Paris in order to study the art of cabinetmaking. When he takes a wrong turn and ends up lost on the streets of this big city, he runs into the lovely and nice Djemila (Oulaya Amamra) who helps him get where he's going. He soon becomes obsessed with finding her again, though he only manages to do so just before returning to his small country town after failing to make much of an impression in the city. Once he has settled back into life in the small town where he grew up, Luc meets Geneviève (Louise Chevillotte) and the two begin a torrid affair. Then Luc is offered a job to come and work at the prestigious furniture-making school École Boulle, where he meets Betsy (Souheila Yacoub) with whom he begins the third love affair of the film! While we're sad to report that Oulaya Amamra doesn't get nude at all in the flick, there is phenomenal full frontal from both Louise Chevillotte and Souheila Yacoub in the back half of the film!
