The Running Man (1987)

Based on a Stephen King story and directed by Detective Starsky himself, Paul Michael Glaser, this sci-fi action film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger doing his thing, playing a cop living in a dystopian, totalitarian future. When he refuses to follow an order to shoot starving citizens, he is thrown in a penal colony on trumped up charges. After a while, he and a few other prisoners make a daring escape that ends up on the news, grabbing the attention of television host Damon Killian (veteran emcee Richard Dawson, basically playing himself). Killian just happens to helm a game show where criminals fight off heavily armed dudes with names like Dynamo and Buzzsaw (think American Gladiators, but they kill you) in order to win their freedom, and Schwarzenegger would make the perfect contestant. But before he can be coerced onto the show, he stumbles upon lovely Latina Maria Conchita Alonso in some lacy lingerie while searching for his brother. He takes her hostage with the intention of fleeing to Hawaii but they get caught at the airport, and when it’s falsely reported that he shot people there, she takes his side and ends up as a Running Man contestant herself. Maria bares a bit of cleavage in the skintight uniform, but we can’t help but wish the spicy sex symbol had more skin in this game!
