The Punk Singer (2013) is a documentary about Bikini Kill front woman Kathleen Hanna. As a pioneer of the "riot grrrl" movement of the early 1990s, Hanna became more than just a musician. She became a cultural icon and activist, fighting for women's rights, and empowering women to make their own way in the world. Her influential life and trailblazing ways have become an inspiration for thousands of women. Although the film is unrated, it unfortunately has a dearth of flesh. Right at the beginning of the film Kathleen Hanna is seen in various photographs in her bra and/or her panties, intercut with footage of her on stage too in her bra. Not long after we get a nice shot of her lying outside in a bikini, and there are some shots of her later in the film performing in her panties. As much as we would have loved to start a riot over this riot grrrl, The Punk Singer is about as sexy as an episode of Jerry Springer.
