Successful architect Jonathon Hoffman (Andrew McCarthy) has just relocated from New York to Los Angeles to work on the development of a new mini-mall. One night, he hears weird noises coming from another unit in his apartment building and calls the occupant on the front intercom to complain about the noise, but when asked by the neighbor which apartment he lives in, he lies and says the one across the way. Then the actual person who lives in the apartment across from the noisy neighbor is brutally murdered, and Jonathan’s guilt leads him to try and solve the murder, but his intrusive behavior - and the fact that he becomes romantically involved with the deceased’s sister (Mädchen Amick) - leads the detective on the case (Cheech Marin) to make him the prime suspect. While Mädchen doesn’t show much during the couple’s sex scenes, the camera zooms in on Lara Piper’s perky nips (or the nips of a body double) when a guy caresses them with a bracelet. It’s made of gold but you’ll be harder than a diamond in an ice storm!
