The Black Hole (2025)

An Estonian sci-fi film based on the short stories of Andrus Kivirähk and Armin Koomägi, this tale is divided into three parts which kick off when the titular portal forms in a lilac bush near a post-Soviet apartment complex. First, we have two unemployed besties, Sirje (Anne Reemann) and Maret (Eva Koldits), who are looking for love in all the wrong places. An interesting opportunity arises for them when they encounter Kri-In-Poulsen (Ilja Toome), an alien who offers them thousands of Euros to participate in scientific experiments. Then there’s Mariliis (Doris Tislar), who leaves her abusive partner (Nils Mattias Steinberg) and shacks up with the athletic Uma (Rea Lest), only to be plagued by a giant spider it appears only she can see. And finally, lonely census officer Jüri (Ursel Tilk) becomes enamored of Gertrud (Jekaterina Linnamäe), a honeypot involved in a scheme to attack and rob his overbearing mother (Liina Tennosaar). Jekaterina seduces her hapless target in two scenes, showing up in a sheer nighty, then stepping her naked body into a romantic, rose petal-filled bath. Her boobs and buns are on display, but a well-placed merking stops us from seeing Jekaterina’s black hole!
