Tell It to the Bees (2018)

Be warned: your stinger may get swollen while watching Tell it to the Bees (2018). Based on Fiona Shaw’s same-named novel of 2009, this British flick features Anna Paquin and Holliday Grainger as lesbian lovers who make a buzz in a small Scottish town. Under the direction of Annabel Jankel, the forbidden romance follows Lydia (Grainger) who is dealing with her failing marriage to Robert Weekes (Emun Elliott) during the 1950s. Meanwhile, their son Charlie (Gregor Selkirk) takes an interest in the bee colonies owned by the town’s new doctor Jean Markham (Paquin). When Lydia and Charlie find themselves homeless, they move in with the good doctor. One thing leads to another and the next thing you know Ms. Paquin and Ms. Grainger are swapping Sapphic spit! If that’s not erotic enough, the skintastic actresses doff their duds. As such, we are treated to views of their old school undergarments. Indeed, it’s a holiday to see Holliday’s pokies. Not to be outdone, Anna exposes her bare breasts and bum! Even though Holliday doesn’t show her piece in this period piece, Mr. Skin admires a costume drama that requires few costumes. He’s not alone in appreciating this movie since film critic Tanya Sweeney of the Irish Independent said it was a “touching and tender tale.” Perhaps that’s why the dyke-namic scenes had us longing to touch the tender tails on the pair of lesbionic ladies. In other words, these leads are the bee’s knees — as well as other parts of the anatomy!
