Susan Blakely debuted in The Way We Were (1973) and followed that up with another high-profile hit on the TV mini-series Rich Man, Poor Man (1976), but then her career mysteriously ran out of steam. But her body of work stayed boiling hot . . . and how. How exactly, you ask? Susan streaked in Report to the Commissioner (1975) and let her Blakely beauties out to play on The Hitchhiker: Remembering Melody. But Susan deserves the booby prize for her groundbreaking (and leg-spreading) performance in Capone (1976). Long before Sharon Stone made history by flashing her sugar walls and bleached muff in the mainstream picture Basic Instinct (1992), Susan broke the bush barrier in the aforementioned gangland epic. As one of Al's conquests, Susan appears quite nude, several times, including the scene in question, where she is full frontal on a bed and quite nonchalantly throws a leg over to reveal the Gates of Venus to Mr. Camera. And everyone thinks Sharon Stone did it first . . . pshaw.
