Thanks to many of the independent distributors in the world of home video, a fair amount of movies with great nudity finally got long overdue high-def treatments this year! 2019 saw some of the most skinsational films on the planet come to Blu-ray for the very first time, and we've rounded up 12 of the best Blu-rays released over the past year!
Betty Blue
One of the pioneering films in France's "Cinema du Look" movement of the 1980s, this tumultuous opposites attract love story got a glorious restoration this year courtesy of the Criterion Collection, nicely cleaning up Béatrice Dalle's numerous nude scenes!
Bitter Moon
Roman Polanski's early 90s thriller marked his sexiest collaboration with future wife Emmanuelle Seigner, whose milk-soaked nude scene was nicely cleaned up by the good folks over at Kino Lorber!
Blind Date
In addition to copious amounts of nudity from the likes ofTNG's Marina Sirtis, Antigone Amanitis, and more, this 1984 thriller—not to be confused with the 1987 Blake Edwards-directed comedy—is the only place to see Kirstie Alley topless, and the scene looks better than ever thanks to the restoration work done by the folks over at Scorpion Releasing!
Broken Flowers
Though he released one of his worst movies this year (the abysmal The Dead Don't Die), one of Jim Jarmusch's best efforts of the new millennium got the high def treatment for the first time in May courtesy of Kino Lorber! Alexis Dziena remains one of our favorite one-timers on the site thanks to her fully nude scene in front of star Bill Murray!
Emmanuelle
Just Jaeckin's erotic softcore sensation launched a franchise which made its way to Blu-ray over the course of this year. Released back in April, Kino Lorber's remaster of Sylvia Kristel's breakthrough has never looked better than it does now!
Get Out Your Handkerchiefs
Cohen Media Group released this late 70s French sex farce on Blu-ray in August, bringing us an impeccable transfer of Carole Laure's numerous knockout nude scenes!
Hard Ticket to Hawaii
Any of the Andy Sedaris Blu-rays could've made their way onto this list as specialty houseMill Creek has done a great job putting out his work this year—with Hard Hunted and Fit to Kill due in March of next year. This is the best of the best, in my humble opinion, with more legendary bad movie moments than you shake a stick at, not to mention incredible nudity from such Sidaris regulars as Patty Duffek!
Hussy
One of the oldest Blu-ray specialty houses in the industry, Twilight Time, gave us an impeccable transfer of this Helen Mirren vehicle back in June, featuring lots of terrific nude scenes from the legendary dame!
Lost Highway
Criterion did a great job with their release of David Lynch's Blue Velvetback in May, but it's hard to argue that the nudity in this 1997 flick isn't substantially better! Kino Lorber did a bang-up job with this transfer released a month later, especially with cleaning upPatricia Arquette's multiple nude scenes!
Private School
Shout Factory did right by this raunchy early 80s skin flick with their late October release of this Blu-ray, bringing us cleaned up coed nudity from such all-time beauties as Betsy Russell and her bareback antics!
Sheena
Mill Creek wasn't just busy cranking out Andy Sidaris flicks this year, as they also managed to give this early 80s PG-rated flick the deluxe remaster treatment back in February! Who could forget the first time they saw Tanya Roberts totally nude in this flick? A seminal moment for many a child of the 80s!
Who Saw Her Die?
Finally, the good folks over at Arrow put out this giallo classic in September, bringing us some deep, dark colors and lots of gorgeous restoration on the nude scenes from beauties like Dominique Boschero and many more!
