A theatrical adaptation of the British TV series, Rising Damp: The Movie (1980) stars Leonard Rossiter as a nosy, horny landlord who rents out rooms in a rotten townhouse. Among his tenants are Frances de la Tour, an oversexed oldster with a thing for fellow boarder Don Warrington; Christopher Strauli, a dope of an art student who ends up rooming with Don (who's in med school but claims he's an African prince with a whole den of wives); and Denholm Elliot, a con man who wants to get his slippery fingers on Franny's fanny . . . and her finances! There's not much T&A in this funny fare from the UK, but you'll definitely bust your butt laughing.
