More sad news for cinephiles as English "enfant terrible" Nicolas Roeg passed away on Friday at the age of 90. The cinematographer turned director was one of the pioneering voices of the auteur movement of the 1970s, and had a hand in creating some of the greatest genre classics of all time.

As a cinematographer and camera operator, Roeg worked with such industry luminaries as David Lean, François Truffaut, John Schlesinger, and Richard Lester, before striking out on his own as a director with 1970's Performance. He quickly gained a lot of respect and was a sought after director, working with many big stars of the day like Mick Jagger (Performance), Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie (Don't Look Now) and David Bowie (The Man Who Fell to Earth).

Roeg is also closely associated with actress Theresa Russell, with whom he first worked on 1980's Bad Timing. The two began a long and fruitful partnership onscreen and off, though they eventually called it off in both respects sometime in the late 90s or early aughts.

I'll be covering Roeg in an upcoming SKIN-depth look sometime early next year, but for now, let's enjoy some of the sexiest moments he ever put on film in remembrance of one of the truly unique and original voices in cinema...
