Resort to Love (2021)

Is it just us or does it seem like Netflix decided that the 2020s was the decade when they were going to make a full-on run at taking over the Lifetime Movie audience? From super softcore sex thrillers to absurd rom coms, the streaming service is making a big play to take over that slice of its viewership. Resort to Love (2021) is the latest from the latter camp, starring singer Christina Milian as—wait for it—a singer named Erica who is going through a rough patch in her life at the moment. Erica's personal life is a mess after her fiancé Jason (Jay Pharoah) dumps her and her career is in a tailspin after a collaboration with a Kanye West-esque male rapper makes her something of a pariah in the industry. Her agent books her a standing gig at an exclusive Caribbean resort to help her refocus and get away from the harsh spotlight, which is going great until she learns that one of the gigs she's playing is the wedding of her ex Jason! What starts out as a nightmare scenario soon gets a new look when Jason's brother Caleb (Sinqua Wallis) turns out to be a handsome man who not only seems infinitely more grounded than his brother, he also seems to have a thing for Erica. Yada yada yada, you know where this is all heading. While there's no nudity to speak of in this flick, there are several scenes where Christina Milian shows off a lot of cleavage wearing bikinis on the beach, so should you find yourself in a room where this movie is playing, it might not be the worst idea to stick around for that!
