An Israeli mother and daughter use sex as currency in the hard-edged arthouse drama Or My Treasure (2004). Keren Yedaya’s gritty film debut stars Ronit Elkabetz as an impoverished Tel Aviv slum dweller who’s getting too old to sleep her way out of paying the rent. Her daughter, Or (Dana Ivgy), decides to get in on the racket and discovers that she enjoys prostitution a lot more than she expected. As a quick source of cash and a way to hold sway over drooling boys, Or clearly gets a kick out of the world’s oldest profession––until she realizes that it might have ruined her chances for finding true love. Director Yedaya adeptly lenses mother and daughter alike as they cavort about in alluring fashion. Both generations of women are fun to watch as they take off their tops and get down to business.
